The Trackdown Sessions EP was never released as the band essentially broke up shortly after it was recorded. The band was gifted a weekend at Trackdown at no charge so that the then junior engineer Michael Horn could ‘practice’ and hone his skills behind the console. We spent an entire weekend recording and mixing the three songs that were chosen to be done; Time, Little Nina and Sister.
We invited a bunch of others musicians to assist, including Lisa Hill from The Deadly Nightshades who were one of my favourite bands playing the Sydney circuit. The other guest was Tyrone Coates from The Bombers. Both Tryrone and Lisa added backing vocals for all three songs. The recording medium was a 24 track analogue Studer A820 for memory and used Dolby SR.
After spending Saturday recording, we used Sunday to mix the three songs. I was never happy with the final mixes in the end, which is what started the re-recording of the songs many years ago. Simon Leadley used what I believe was a very early version of Pro Tools to join two separate mixes of Sister, it was not a great edit as there is phasing on the join, but that was early days and we were all learning!
