This project has taken over 23 years to complete, with initial recordings starting back in 1993 while I was living in Hong Kong. Glenn Rhodes was the first musician involved, recording his keyboard parts for Best Of Me, Like I Need You and Letter To Someone. Those recordings have sat idle for over twenty years, just waiting to be completed, along with many other songs that had not yet been started.

The process of completing those recordings began in 2013 using Glenn’s recordings, plus earlier keyboard parts by John Mackay (including his amazing orchestration in Sister), and musicians from around the world. Thanks to the internet sending 24bit recordings back and forth to everyone involved was a very simple process, and the songs bounced around from the UK, USA, Canada and even Russia. This was truly an international effort!

Over the next two and a half years all twelve songs came together with a core group of great session musicians in Los Angeles; Greg Pajer on guitar, Andrew James on bass and Cris Hodges on vocals, all of whom added something special to each and every song they touched. I can not thank them enough as they were all absolute professionals in every respect and great to work with. They were always enthusiastic and willing to work with me to get exactly what was needed for each and every song.

I tried a number of drummers throughout this process, and in the latter stages found a fabulous drummer named Max Saidi in London. Max provided killer feel for songs like Time and Never Be Free, and solid grooves on Little Nina, Hearts & Souls and Sister. Max was always willing to do what ever it took to get it right and he nailed it first time, everytime, a true musician in every way.

Thankfully Glenn Rhodes provided more keyboard magic in other songs apart from the initial three from back in 1993, including the beautiful Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes in Hearts & Souls plus piano and Hammond organ in Sweetest Agony.
